Backup and restore mySql Database

1. Take the sql dump of your current database.

Code:

mysqldump <database_name> [ -u username -p ] > dump_file.sql

2. Make a backup of your vtiger source directory (Just to make sure that you don't miss some files like attachments- most important is the storage folder)
3. Do a fresh installation on the other server.
4. Drop the database that you created during installation. Create an empty database with same name.
5. Import the sql dump into this newly created database.

Code:

mysql> create database new_database; mysql> use new_database; mysql> source <complete_path>/dump_file.sql

6. Overwrite the user_priveleges and sharing_priveleges files from user_priveleges directory of older installation to newer installation.
7. Copy then contents of storage if there are any uploaded files.
